GRANT-KOHRS RANCH NATIONAL PARK

While the the National Park Service Centennial celebration continues throughout all national parks and monuments throughout the year, Grant-Kohrs Ranch NHS has several specific dates on the calendar (and all events are free):

July 2, Saturday, Historic Mowing — The first step of making hay is mowing with horse-drawn equipment.
Event is 2–3 p.m.

July 7, Thursday, Cattle Branding — Branding cattle was a very important practice on the open range, where cattle grazed together with only a brand to identify ownership. Branding is still an important time on ranches today. Come watch as we brand our calves and join in the fun family activities held throughout the day.
Event is 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

July 16, Saturday | July 28, Thursday | August 11, Thursday | August 20, Thursday — Haying demonstrations using historic horse-drawn equipment.
Event is 1–3:30 p.m., each day.

August 25, Thursday — NPS Birthday Celebration. Free classes hosted by the Montana Academy of Living History. Hot dogs, cake and entertainment in the evening.
Event is 9 a.m.–8 p.m.

October 16, Sunday — Pumpkin Sunday. Themed activities for children and special programs and activities for visitors of all ages.
Event is 1–4 p.m.

December 4, Sunday — Holiday Open House. Celebrate the season with music, children’s activities, wagon rides and refreshments. The Kohrs home will be decorated throughout the month of December.
