BUTTE ART WALK (Butte)

This event happens the first Friday of each month May through October.
Friday, May 02 – Friday, October 03, 2014

The Butte Art Walks were started by artists Ray Campeau and Philip Kunz as a way to stimulate economic development in Uptown Butte, Montana. Abandoned or otherwise unused buildings in historic Butte are turned into galleries for one night a month during the summer. Local businesses also participate and host artists throughout the month, having a special reception on the night of the Art Walk. Artists from around Montana and the US participate in these exhibitions. The public is invited to participate in this FREE activity.

The gallery spaces are provided courtesy of the building owners in a cooperative venture celebrating the arts in Butte. This year there are many buildings that have been used previous years that now have businesses in them which is a great sign! During each Art Walk, a reception for a featured artist is held at the U.S. Bank, located at 10 South Main; refreshments are served. Special performances by belly dancers, local musicians, high school music students, theater student mimes, stunt men, and stunt cyclists enhance the evening’s festivities. The evening provides a chance for everyone to visit with a wide variety of artists. The participating artists range from seasoned professionals to emerging new artists.
