A STEP BACK IN TIME: THE GRAND VICTORIAN BALL OF 1864 (Virginia City)

A STEP BACK IN TIME, 1860s, come to Virginia City, Montana. Learn about the influence of the Civil War in Montana’s early history. Experience the fashions and customs of this era. Help celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Montana Historical Society.

Join us for a Victorian High Tea at the Bennett House on Friday. Attend the authentic melodrama at the Opera House at 7 p.m. The Grand Victorian Ball 1864 is Saturday starting at 6:30pm with boardwalk promenade followed by the Grand March and dancing in the Community Center Ballroom at 7pm. A light repast will be served at 9:30 p.m. Dance to period music provided by music historian, Professor R. Alexander James and his orchestra. Classes on dances and customs are provided the afternoon of the ball at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. 1860’s-1880’s period costumes are required to attend the Grand Ball, but not a requirement for spectators. All events welcome children.

Sunday: 9 a.m. Service at the historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church
Afternoon – Dillon Jr. Fiddlers performing on the Pankey House Lawn

Location Information
The Victorian Ball will be held in the Community Center Ballroom at the corner of Idaho and Van Buren streets in Virginia City. Parking in empty lot across the street.
